CHAPTER XVIII

While the Sternentor remained open after the Archangels’ journey to Earth, AN suffered the harsh consequences of the Arcanian’s wicked and selfish plans. Could an effective solution be found to change the inevitable fate? It was difficult to answer with certainty. The Seraphim, the Portcanians, and the rest of the living beings placed their hopes in their King to save them.

The young warriors traveled through the funnel of energy across the universe, following the Titans to prevent the destruction of the unknown planet… and their own. It was imperative to end this war that had just begun, even if it was far from their deepest wishes.

Earth had been devastated by the effects of a war that had raged for more than two hundred and fifty Earth years without pause. A great battle was being waged nonstop between two factions: Lucifer, with his army of cherubim and demons; and SonGoliat, king of the giants, supported by the strongest creatures of Earth.

There were no moments of peace, only endless battles until one side surrendered or was declared victorious. The casualties were countless. Blood mixed with the air they breathed, and the sky was covered by it. Day or night, the battles went on. The weak died of thirst, hunger, or by the sword.

At night, the cherubim had the upper hand: they used magic to light themselves and strike. The demons, for their part, could take the form of dark clouds or become invisible, using these skills to finish off their enemies. But the giants possessed control over parts of nature: they manipulated the waters and opened the earth to crush those who dared face them.

Many of Earth’s earliest creatures went extinct; others were swallowed by the abyss. The air was so dense that even the plants died, and the water, now polluted, sickened giants and allied species alike.

SonGoliat’s army began to weaken, while the invaders gained ground, taking control of over 60% of the planet.

As the cherubim and demons celebrated a premature victory, the giants still held one last resort…

The great SonGoliat stepped forward, struck the ground with force, and exclaimed:

—Mighty beasts of old, first walkers of Earth, I, king of the giants, call upon your aid! Rise and help us in this war!

A terrifying earthquake shook the land. The enemies stopped celebrating, confused by the phenomenon. On the side of the giants, however, a cry of hope and war broke out.

From the depths emerged two enormous and fearsome beasts. Their power was as terrifying as their size: the giants barely reached their ankles.

—What are those things? —asked a cherub in disbelief.

  No one had an answer.

The situation took an unexpected turn. The two creatures absorbed energy from nature, swept through everything in their path, and revived the spirits of the giants. Their names: Leviathan, master of the waters, and Behemoth, who attacked over land. Their skin and bones were as strong as iron; the weapons of the cherubim and demons could not pierce them.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

However, this only prolonged the war. Sooner or later, all life would be annihilated.

—My lord, it’s very difficult to pierce the skin of those beasts. They’re wiping out many of our forces, and the giants have regained ground —Zurcan reported, concerned.

  Lucifer replied with laughter:

—Even so, we still hold the advantage. The rivers have dried up and the rest of the water is polluted, just like their food sources. They won’t last much longer. When their resources run out, we’ll deal the final blow and win once and for all. Hahahaha!

Everything unfolded just as the commander had predicted. The inhabitants of Earth depended on it to survive, and its scarcity was condemning them.

The war had now lasted over three hundred Earth years. The giants, Leviathan, and Behemoth were exhausted. With no water or food, they tried to regain strength while their enemies advanced mercilessly. There were no prisoners. No mercy.

Then, a rumble shook the sky, silencing all of Earth…

—What’s happening? —cherubim, demons, and giants alike asked.

A great veil of darkness covered the firmament. There was no more daylight. The air stopped. Silence filled everything.

A massive black hole opened in the sky. Thundering voices emerged from it, like screams from another dimension. Thunder and lightning struck the surface, splitting it in two. An overwhelming power made itself known.

  Lucifer froze.

—Oh no! It can’t be! I thought they were just a legend… I never imagined they were real…

His allies looked at him, confused:

—What are you talking about? Who are they? What kind of being could have that power?

—They… they are the judges of the universe… The Four Titans! —Lucifer responded, terrified.

An earthquake broke out. Dark voices echoed in every corner of the planet, repeating in all languages:

—We are judgment, we are justice, we are punishment, we are truth! —

Four silhouettes formed in the center of the hole.

Terror was absolute. Leviathan and Behemoth hid underground. The other creatures fled in terror. Everyone thought the end had come.

—Your Majesty… Lord SonGoliat… is this our end? What should we do?

The king, staring at the sky, replied:

—They are not an enemy we can face. Retreat! Seek shelter far from the surface… although I doubt it will be enough.

—RETREAT! Save yourselves! —shouted his right hand.

On the other front, the demon commander spoke:

—Did they come for you? I think we’d better leave. This is not our battle.

  And they abandoned Lucifer.

—If what I’ve heard about these titans is true… there won’t be anywhere to hide —murmured the cherub leader.

—Sir, what do we do? —Zurcan asked.

—There’s nothing we can do anymore… if you wish, find shelter…

The waters stirred. The mountains disintegrated. The voices of the judges continued:

—We are judgment, we are justice, we are punishment, we are truth! —

One of them raised his arm:

  —Dry up! —

And the oceans and rivers evaporated for two years. The second one spoke:

  —Burn! —

From the stones erupted lava, ravaging everything for another two years.

At that moment, the Archangels approached…

—Friends… I think we’re getting close. I can feel a terrifying power —warned Raphael.

  —Get ready… —Miguel responded.

On Earth, the third judge shouted:

  —Purify! —

A hurricane of acid and fire destroyed what remained for another two years.

The oxygen was no longer breathable. The survivors tried to hide underground, but they suffered just the same.

And after six Earth years of punishment, the world was silent. Only one small corner remained intact. The fourth Titan raised his arm…

—We are judgment, we are justice, we are punishment, we are truth! Now, destr—

  —STOP! —a powerful voice interrupted.

The Archangels had arrived on Earth.
