Amberstone Extras #031 – The Alaskan Front: Where Wars Go to Freeze

Excerpt from Iron & Ice: A Tactical Analysis of the Northern Stalemate, Published 2067

"Victory is not a word we use here. Survival is a miracle." – Field Marshal Janet Roy, Canadian Defence Force

In 2065, the world watched in anxious silence as the once-frozen border between Alaska and Western Canada became the final threshold. When the Purity’s mechanized war host finally turned its eye northward, the Allied Nations responded by fortifying a region where Russia meets the US on the Frozen tundra. Thus began the Alaskan Front—a theatre unlike any other in the great conflict.

  The Combatants:

  → American Automatons

Mass-produced and endlessly replenished, these autonomous war machines represent the brutal efficiency of U.S. defence doctrine. They patrol the snowfields relentlessly, acting as both vanguard and wall, often frozen in place for days or weeks until their sensors detect Purity movement.

  → Canadian Cryo-Artillery

While the rest of the world marvels at drones and exosuits, Canada has mastered the art of cold weaponry. Massive cryo-tanks lumber through glacial valleys, capable of launching long-range freeze-lasers that can disable enemy engines mid-flight or encase entire vehicles in flash-frozen shells of nitrogen ice.

  → Mexican Lucha Berserkers

Genetically-enhanced shock troops dosed with terminal-grade stimulants, Lucha Berserkers are Mexico’s tragic answer to offensive warfare. Their strength is immense—so is their mortality rate, they are the offensive arm of this stalemate and they have given the most lives

  → The Purity

The Imperial arms do not make a presence in the Alaskan theatre as the Canadian Cryo weapons are a massive deterrent but they are not mobile installations which makes more mobile raids rather effective in fast armoured convoys although Automatons replenish quickly and Cryo lazers can still hit and freeze these vehicles. Small advancements have been made through relentless bombardments from the Yuhuangdi Cannon and its sister batteries, though the weapon’s power is stretched thin across multiple warfronts and it cannot amass enough power to level an area as big as a city as the allied forces manage to keep one of the Purity’s greatest weapons almost deadlocked.

The Front is Icy hell and neither side can breech the other truly. This deadlock is so extreme to the point it makes other theatres in WW1 and WW2 look like walks in the park.

The purity fires on anything that doesn’t look like snow.
