The C.R.M. has several ranks to denote the militaristic worth and experience of each soldier. The highest of these ranks is "General," and the lowest is "Private."
General of the Corvus Royal Military: This position oversees the actions of all units of the C.R.M. and has the authority to dismiss or call upon any of them, at any time, to fight for the safety of the Kingdom. The General reports directly to the Ash Lord, King Henry Corvus.
? The last Mortal to occupy this position was Ren Holo. The next General has been decided, but has not been formally announced yet.
Wing Commander: There are three Wing Commanders, each tasked with overseeing the activities of two of the seven divisions that make up the Corvus Royal Military. Wing Commanders are responsible for providing reports at the end of every week to update the General on the whole of their units' activities, requests, and schedules for the next week of missions.
The current holders of this rank are:
? First Wing Commander: Balla Iesteria, Smokestack (Balla was the Division Two Captain before Ren's passing.)
? Second Wing Commander: Jason Argo, The Shield of Corvus.
? Third Wing Commander: Ten Impeti, The Wizard.
Captain: Each Captain is charged with assigning and setting weekly missions for all active soldiers and squads under his command. There are seven Captains. Each Captain has an assigned Wing Commander to report to, except for the Captain of Division Seven who reports to the General. Captains are selected for more than experience, they are powerful assets that serve as deterrents for foreign aggressors and Heathens.
The seven current Captains of the Corvus Royal Military are:
? Division One (Infantry Unit), "Talons": Roe Fissure, The Tiny Mountain.
? Division Two (Scout Unit), "Crow's Eyes": Revin Holo, Blue Bird.
? Division Three (Research and Development Unit), "Big Brains": Jada Fiori, The Futurist.
? Division Four (Police Unit), "Red Feathers": Kenneth Dori, Blackout.
? Division Five (Heavy Artillery Unit), "Shriekers": Sergio Tormenta, The Big Dog.
? Division Six (Stealth Unit), "Black Feathers": Sári Wusvern, Thousand Miles.
? Division Seven (Special Forces Unit), "Hero": Helen ?thena, The Hero of Corvus (Given that Helen is "The Hero," she is the only member of her Division.)

First Lieutenant: Each Division has just one First Lieutenant. These soldiers are all considered to be candidates for Captain-ship in the event of a tragedy. First Lieutenants are permitted to attend War Council meeting each month, and do so to take notes on behalf of their Captains. This position is also responsible for delivering their Captain's orders regarding supplies and missions to Third Lieutenants within their Divisions. First Lieutenants have a reputation of being informal secretaries for their Captains, and tend to get teased for this.
The six current holders of this rank are:
? Division One: Gar Lane.
? Division Two: Therissa May.
? Division Three: Lara Caid.
? Division Four: Fren Sal'Resse.
? Division Five: Quinlan Ashfall.
? Division Six: Diana Corvus.
Second Lieutenant: This is the highest rank that actively goes on missions, though they are rarely deployed. Most serve as singular units when deployed for "high-risk" missions (unless overseen directly by the Captain of their Division). Divisions One through Six all have up to five soldiers holding this rank. Second Lieutenant is considered to be the "best" rank to hold because they are paid very well and mostly stay in Gilgamere to train or relax.
Third Lieutenant (jokingly referred to as Chief Officer): This is the "busiest" rank in the C.R.M. Third Lieutenants are charged receiving daily orders from their First Lieutenant, tracking reports from Training Officers, and communicating back to First Lieutenants which rookie squads and senior units are ready for deployment. This rank serves as a bridge between the lower and higher ranks of the C.R.M. A Third Lieutenant is also responsible for keeping inventory of their Division's supplies and overseeing the management of orders when needed. Divisions One through Six all have up to eight soldiers who hold this rank. Many joke that they are "accountants with badges."
First Officer: Highest official Officer position. Pay increases highly with each promotion from this rank upwards, so many soldiers from the lower ranks fight desperately to get to this position then lose motivations to get promoted to Third Lieutenant. These soldiers are all highly skilled with their Radiances and are at least proficient at using close-range combat weapons and firearms. First Officers lead many "mid-risk" missions due to their experience, however they are not seen as "powerhouses" in the C.R.M.'s ranks.
Second Officer: Lowest rank of soldiers who are able to go on "low-risk" missions by themselves. Second Officers can also be assigned "mid-risk" and "high-risk" missions, such as raiding a Heathen hideout. "High-risk" missions tend to be coordinated with multiple Divisions, and rarely leave Second Officers completely alone.
Master Sergeant: At this rank soldiers are able to take on the role of "Training Officer" and lead their own squads of Privates or Sergeants on low-risk missions. Tasked with delivering detailed reports on the status of their squads at the end of each day to the Third Lieutenant overseeing them.
Sergeant: Soldiers holding this rank are allowed to go on a wider variety of missions, including scouting for a raid and assisting in diplomatic endeavors with neighboring nations. Some of these missions can bleed from "low-risk" to "mid-risk" depending on what adversarial parties are involved. These soldiers still need to be supervised by a "Training Officer," though squad sizes begin to vary on the mission at hand.
Private: Lowest rank. This position is held by rookie C.R.M. soldiers who are still in training and must be overseen by a "Training Officer" when assigned missions. Privates are grouped in supervised squads of three until they reach Sergeant rank to foster camaraderie. Soldiers of Private rank are not allowed to be assigned missions beyond community service, securing and overseeing deliveries within the Kingdom, or other "non-risk" activities.
