DMS Chapter 9
James smiled at him.
“I consider you a friend as well. It’s just that our situation is extremely frustrating.”
“I understand. I think everyone from Earth does, but it’s about our survival. I don’t want to lose hope, so until the time comes that there’s a chance for us to leave this place, I want us to survive. If you can’t control your emotions, just close your eyes and bang your head on the ground.”
“I will follow your friend’s advice if I were you. No one I know who showed their defiance to the wizards survives long,” Hector said. Then, the man stood up and urged both of them to continue killing the small monsters.
At around four in the afternoon, Hector announced to Flinx and James that they had gathered 42 low mana stones. He then gave Flinx and James 14 mana stones each.
“What are we going to do next?” Flinx asked.
“Nothing. We’ll stay here and spend the rest of the evening doing whatever we want. You can take turns sleeping or watch anything that you want to watch on the internet. Play games on the internet, read books, and anything else you can think of.”
“Why don’t we kill more monsters so we can gather more mana stones?” James asked.
“No. We can gather enough stones, and there’s no sense in doing some senseless killings just to pass the time. There are some topics in the forums created by one of the miners, featuring topics like the killing of monsters. He’s a psychiatrist, so I recommend that you read them. Soon, you two will have enough mana stones that you don’t know what to do with them,” Hector told the two.
After that, Flinx and James saw Hector suddenly start staring into space, indicative of the man accessing his system menu.
Flinx and James looked at each other and decided to do the same. Flinx started reading the topics that the other slaves made, but reading them continuously depressed him, so he decided to read a fantasy web novel instead, about eastern cultivation.
After four hours of lazily lying about in one of the sections of the dungeon, the three decided to return so they could submit their mana stones and return to their place of rest.
While eating dinner, which was the ever-present bread, small meat, and water, which became tolerable because of the Prestidigitation spell, the three started sleeping.
By the time Flinx and James' first week in the new world ended, Flinx had already purchased half of the available cantrips in his system. He kept around ten mana stones for emergency purposes.
During that week, the three were careful enough that they had never received any wounds from the monster. Not only that, Hector informed them that the three of them were incredibly lucky since they only encountered the torture situation from the wizards around three times.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Hector told them that they were lucky, but Flinx knew that he was starting to develop deep trauma because of the torture. Every time he thought he saw a robe in the corner of his eyes, he immediately wanted to prostrate himself and hide under the dirt. He even thought that he was now as mad as the other slaves, and it was just his first week.
The hate and anger that James felt grew stronger based on what Flinx saw in his friend’s expressions. He kept persuading his friend not to show his emotions on his face, but James couldn’t help himself.
Tragedy struck when one of the wizards saw James’s expression. He was taken by the wizards, and Flinx cried himself to sleep. He thought that the wizards had killed his friend, but when James returned the next day, he was incredibly happy, but something had changed in his friend’s psyche.
James admitted to Flinx that he had been raped by a couple of wizards, and because of their magic. he couldn’t do anything about it. They kept telling James that they liked the spirited “penis pleasurer”. After raping him, they continued torturing him using the slave collar.
James was full of pain that the man couldn’t help but cry in Flinx’s arms, and since he couldn’t do anything to help his friend, Flinx cried with him.
By the end of their second week, Flinx had already purchased all of the cantrips, and the only thing he could do with mana stones that was beyond their quota was to collect them and let them rot in his storage ring just like the other slaves. James was probably the same.
By the end of the third week, experiencing all the tortures that the wizards did to them, plus the never-ending killings of the small monsters, Flinx was sure that he was mad, and he was actually sure that all of the slaves from Earth were the same. The only saving grace that allowed them to continue was their access to the internet and the Prestidigitation spell.
After a couple of months, James couldn’t take it anymore and attacked one of the wizards, causing the wizard to kill him. Flinx almost followed his friend’s actions, but a glimmer of the desire to survive stopped him.
The night when James was killed, Flinx didn’t cry. He was all cried out. The two of them cried so much during their first few weeks that they were used to the grief that their situation brought them. Flinx also knew deep down that James wouldn’t survive long. He knew his friend couldn’t tolerate the lives they were currently living.
Flinx and Hector were assigned a new slave from Earth, and thankfully, Hector handled all the explanations that the newbie needed. The new one was timid, and that meant that he would probably survive a long time just like Flinx and Hector.
He still befriended the newbie slave and made sure that the man was comfortable. The newbie’s name was Martin, and his class was a Fighter. After a while, Martin’s coordination with them became seamless, so that they had never encountered anything dangerous on the first floor of the dungeon.
At least, the newbie cowered before the wizard just like Hector and Flinx, so that meant that the wizards continued ignoring the three of them aside from the occasional torture that they had received to make sure that all the slaves from Earth understood that they were slaves.
Two years had passed, and Flinx was now considered a veteran slave. He was teaching a couple of new slaves from Earth. One of them, for some reason, was looking at him with a face full of resentment, as if he were one of the wizards who enslaved the people from Earth.
The second person was a woman, but Flinx avoided looking at the woman. He knew from experience that the woman would probably not last more than a week. All women from Earth were always taken by the wizards after a few days to be their playthings.
He remembered that the first time it happened with his group, a girl joined them, he warned her, and then they tried their best to hide in the dungeon, but after a couple of weeks, she was taken as well. The wizard who received their mana stones told his friends about the girl, and soon, she was taken. The one who took her also tortured him and the other slave for a long time that Flinx thought he had truly gone mad. That the only thing that existed was pain and nothing else.
