Chapter 10: travelers short journey

After we camped again for the night and continued to travel, they started talking and joking again but it felt a lot more tense, I decided that from now on I would not show my power as much next time that I am in a party.

When we reached the town gate the guard asked for our ID’s, which we gave and he let us through. We headed to the adventurer’s guild, and then I had to explain about my storage space skill, in order to drop of the meat. we were rewarded for the S rank mission and I ranked up.

We reported the events of the bandit ambush; the elf was quite vague on how each of them died.

We were rewarded for the information as well and then we split of. “I hope to see you in the future again.” Gilnair said. A smile on his face. “Same to you.” I said, “however I plan on travelling to Angralia.” I added we said our goodbyes and I headed back to my inn.

After hiring out a room for the night and eating, I slept, got ready early and left the next morning once I was able to leave the city without being questioned.

Once I was far enough, I used my teleportation spell to travel to the place we killed the boars and the I started running towards Agralia in the mountains of Leinen to my right.

The lark volcano was a stark black spire against the other three larger greyish stone spires, but it was thanks to it that the dwarven mine city’s, which was higher than normal had enough heat in its atmosphere not to have frost.

At night time I decided to camp for the night and stopped, getting my tents set up and then used my stealth abilities to keep animals away while I slept. When I woke the next morning, I packed up by just swallowing up my tent in my subspace. I continued, I used a mix between my gravity and wind magic to move fast without causing a dust cloud to be raised behind me.

I ran at an incredible speed, keeping pace, I ended up reaching the road to the entrance of the fort city Angralia.

I slowed down to blend in with the rest of the traveller’s entering Angralia.

Standing in a long line to enter Angralia, there were an assortment of people, mostly merchants and a few lower class nobles, along with many travellers like me.

After waiting for a while it finally became my turn to enter Angralia, the guards stood by the wide entrance capable of safely allowing three wagons in with some space to spare, however it was rather used as a two way entrance and exit, with the wagons passing by in opposite directions.

The guard motioned for me to step up to the table for identification, as I moved up. I walked to his table studying his face as he asked in a gruff voice, “citizen pass or other form of identification?” I took out my adventurer’s b rank identification card with my name on it, and went through the gate as he motioned me past.

Unlike most other large cities Angralia didn’t charge a fee for entering, because the city made most of its income from exports and their entertainment industry, not to mention its huge adventurer’s guild, it was not odd to see multiple a rank adventurer at a time in many places across the city, strangely there were also quite a lot of s ranks roaming around.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

The entrance passed over head and the site that hit my eyes astonished me. The city was an octagonal construction, with main roads all heading to the centre, was a huge castle. The Angralia castle was a magnificent structure that towered over the buildings around it , the buildings were structurally built to run higher the closer you got to the castle.

There were signs that pointed to the most used buildings, one of which pointed to the adventurers building, after climbing the uphill to the adventurer’s guild.

The guild was a huge building that that had four floors comprising of the first which was the admissions offices, the quest board, and an inbuilt tavern. The second floor was an inn built especially for adventures without houses.

I got a room for the night after having shown my b rank guild card to the receptionist and went to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up to get ready for the day ahead, I started seeing the first signs of a beard starting to grow so I scorched it off with my magic.

After getting dressed I went down to the reception hall, seeing many other adventures already picking at the quest board I decided to first get something to eat.

The service was quite average for such a place and after finishing my cold meal I went up to the quest board. “b rank quest, remove Jackel cats from a manor in the Nobel quarter.” “b rank quest hunt Angralia bear for resource deliver to James’s cobble and leather works, reward dependent on quality of product.” “A rank quest, young noble son of duke Arthur requests a sword duel to any who think they have skill enough to beat him, reward: if young noble beat will be issued a sword crafted by the great dwarf smith Gunther.” Thou I was interested in a rank quest I decided to go after the bear, better to first get used to the city and the quests.

I pulled the quest paper off the board and placed it at the reception with my guild card; she stamped the paper as in progress and handed me back my card. After exiting the guild, I quickly went to the south west exit, showing my guild card and went to the area known for its bear population.

I used my stealth magic that I designed to travers silently and unseen through the brush and trees, using my mana sight and area detection, I found a group of squirrels, birds and forest bugs, I searched more in-depth, and then finally I felt it the Angralian bear, near a stream. I slowly crept up to its location.

Angelian bears are extremely large over 9 foot tall with very strong muscles, they seemed to me more like polar bears with their pure white coats.

The bear was trying to catch fish standing in the slow stream, just as its paw snapped at the water to grab one I had already made my plan, seeing as the merchant needed the pelt I would need to kill it with as little struggle or damage to the pelt as possible.

Pulling my bow and arrow from my extra space I knocked it and cast a gravity and wind spell on my arrow as I pulled back, using ki and manna to strengthen my muscles because of the high draw weight of the bow. After making sure of the target area, I let it fly. The twang from the strong metal string reverberated through the air, the bear not having enough time to fully register the sound as the arrow pierced its thick skull and sunk deep in its brain, a secondary spell activated causing an intense electric charge to disperse in its brain.

The bear convulsed once, its body spasming from the shock as it fell over. Using magic, I pulled it out of the water, making sure to take great care while skinning and gutting it I then buried the bones and innards before cleaning myself off. Storing the rest of the meat and tendons in my extra space I travelled back to Angralia.

After I reached the gate and was waved in, I went straight to the leather worker who placed the request. He was surprized at how fast the quest was taken and finished. “You are talented to have so expertly killed and butchered this bear the pelt is off exquisite quality he said as he stamped the quest with completed and wrote down the reward he would give. I walked to the guild 10 gold coins richer, an amount the leather worker was adamant was the correct reward for such excellent work.

It was still only midday and I decided to treat myself to a tour of the city.
