A week has passed by since the abnormal red gate appeared in the Drakethorne duchy. Everything has returned to normal, but the people who witnessed it still feel the horror to this day.
A grand palace stretched across a vast area, beautifully adorned with decorations. Today marked one week since the birth of their heir, Alex Drakethorne.
In this world, nobles and powerful families celebrate their child's first week with a lavish banquet where the child's name is announced to all.
From dawn, maids and servants moved briskly through the palace, arranging decorations and making sure everything looked magnificent for the event.
From the gate to the hall, flowers lined both sides of the walkway. Large decorative drapes hung over the walls and windows, covered with floral patterns.
In a private chamber, Sera Azurestorm watched over her son as he slept in his crib. He was wrapped in expensive sheets, a clear sign of his status as heir to one of the four grand dukes of the Evernight Empire.
Shane Drakethorne entered the chamber, breathing steadily but with obvious fatigue on his face. He had spent the entire week caring for his wife and son, making sure they both got enough rest.
He had also been busy deciding whom to invite and personally wrote the invitations for today’s banquet.
Although the palace was full of servants, Shane chose to care for his wife and son himself. The servants handled most of the tasks, but he rarely left the chamber and spent his days watching over his family.
This was Shane’s first experience as a father. He was overjoyed, even when his son cried and refused to sleep. Despite the challenges, he cherished every moment.
"Honey, why don’t you get some rest? You have been looking after us all week, and you worked so hard to make sure the banquet was perfect," Sera said, her voice soft with concern. She knew how much effort Shane had put into everything.
First, the abnormal red gate appeared. Then Sera nearly died, but their son saved her. Shane was injured as well, and their son healed them both. They still did not know how he managed it. The mystery of the abnormal red gate and their son’s powers weighed heavily on Shane and Sera.
"Did you ask your father how Alex was able to heal us?" Sera asked as she sat beside Shane, who gazed at Alex’s sleeping face with a gentle smile.
Shane glanced at Sera. "I tried reaching out, but he hasn’t replied. I’ll ask him tonight when he returns for the banquet. It will be the first time in five years that he comes home from the battlefield."
Ragnar Drakethorne, Shane’s father and the former patriarch, was in his seventies. He had spent the past five years fighting on the border after a demon invasion attempt.
"What about your mother? Will she attend today’s banquet?" Sera asked, her voice tinged with doubt. His mother, Nyra BlackHeart, the former Drakethorne matriarch, was obsessed with magic. She had left after Ragnar departed for the borders and now lived in the magic tower, immersed in her research.
"I have told her everything. If anyone knows about this, it’s her. She will return. I can already imagine how excited she must be to see her grandson," Shane said, glancing at his son. He thought to himself, ‘Your grandmother is going to spoil you so much.’
