synopsis

The Day I Reincarnated in Another World and Became The Darkness Lord follows the journey of Kiyoshi Ishida, a genius high school student from Tokyo who mastered Dark Psychology at age six to survive a traumatic childhood defined by parental betrayal and Yakuza adoption. After dying in a "Truck-kun" accident while saving his rival-turned-admirer Aiko Shiranami, he is chosen by an Unknown God to be reincarnated into the world of Velgrith to prevent a multiversal catastrophe. Reborn into the Velgrith continent—a massive island where four human kingdoms (Ironwood, Silverwood, Mistwood, and Flarewood) surround a central Great Demon Empire—Kiyoshi takes the name Kuro Velgrith and eventually the title Shujin (The Darkness Lord). He adopts a "Master of Shadows" persona, characterized by an ornate purple mask, glowing violet eyes, and a regal black trench coat with gold-trimmed edges. His primary power is the Death Clock, Chronael, a unique tool that grants him twelve distinct "hands" of time and memory manipulation, such as Time Stop and Memory Erasure. The narrative focuses on Shujin’s strategic "Mind Games" as he hides his god-tier strength at the Ironwood Royal Magic Academy (consistently scoring exactly 50% on exams) to observe the world''''s corruptions from the background. As the story progresses, Shujin executes corrupt nobles and infiltrators sent by the First Summoned Hero, while his follower Rei Nocturne supports him in the shadows. In later volumes, he adopts a secondary "living mask" as the "failure" adventurer Blade Lunaria, allowing him to move freely through the kingdoms while the world remains distracted by the legend of the Darkness Lord.
