While Austin and Jenny’s Mom were battling in Viridian City, Professor Oak was hosting some neighbors back at the lab. “Good to see you again Delia, how have you been?” Professor Oak said placing a cup of tea in front of the woman. Sitting in Professor Oak’s lab was none other than Delia Ketchum. She had amber colored eyes and mahogany hair, and was about the same height as Professor Oak. “I’ve been doing well Professor. The restaurant and Ash have been taking most of my time” Delia Ketchum said having a sip of her tea. “Oh yes, kids definitely keep you on your toes. I can’t imagine trying to run the restaurant and raise a child. You definitely are stronger than I am” Professor Oak said as he sat across from her.
“I heard you had some trouble with Team Rocket, are you okay?” Delia asked. “Oh yes, definitely shaken up, but I was saved and so were all the Pokémon. It was all thanks to my new Researcher Austin” Professor Oak said rubbing his wrists where he had been tied up. “Oh that’s good news then, I would have been so upset if you got hurt. What’s your new Researcher like?” Delia asked reaching across to pat Professor Oak’s hand. “He’s a very interesting young fellow with lots of very good ideas, interesting research topics, and he has a good head on his shoulders. Sometimes I worry he is working himself too hard, or is trying to do too much, but he hasn’t let me down yet” Professor Oak said nodding lightly with a smile. “That sounds like a great help! I know it has been hard for you lately since Spencer and I left” Delia said looking down. “Think nothing of it dear! You both have moved onto new and exciting things! Last I heard, Spencer was studying in Johto, learning about their legendary Pokémon” Professor Oak said looking at a picture he had on the windowsill. The picture had a young Delia sitting on the fence next to Professor Oak and Spencer Hale.
“How is Ash doing?” Professor Oak asked. “Ash is still a very easily excitable young boy. Always going on about Pokémon and how he wants to become a trainer” Delia said with a chuckle. “That’s wonderful! My new researcher actually had talked to me about starting a camp or school to test and train potential new Pokémon Trainers. He wants to make sure that all Pokémon Trainers and Researchers that represent the lab are prepared and can earn their 8 gym badges in time for the Elite 4” Professor Oak said excitedly. “That sounds like a wonderful idea! Do you know when it will be ready?” Delia asked having another sip of her tea. “Yes, Austin thinks we should be able to start having potential trainers and researchers sign up as soon as next year” Professor Oak said a happy grin. “Ash will be so excited to train and learn here at the lab! I’m sure the program will be incredible and yield great results” Delia said getting excited. “Yes, Austin has a lot more foresight than I do, but I am excited to share my knowledge with the next generation” Professor Oak said putting down his tea.

Outside the lab near the corrals, Ash Ketchum was playing with Gary and Daisy Oak. “Wow, you guys have so many cool Pokémon living here” Ash said looking into Corral 1. “Yeah, it’s fun getting to live close to the lab and visit Gramps at work” said Gary. “Ash, did you know that I get to help feed the Pokémon now?” Daisy said looking proud. “No way, that’s so cool Daisy!” Ash said looking at her with admiration. “Yeah, I’m learning from Grandpa’s new Researcher about Pokémon and their physical biology. He has me feed the Pokémon special food sometimes too! This morning he let me help him measure them and take pictures even!” Daisy said pumping her fists excitedly. “Daisy, can you introduce me to your Grandpa’s new Researcher?” Ash asked shyly. “I want to learn about Pokémon too!” Ash said looking determined. “I bet Mr. Austin would be happy to teach you! He really likes talking to Gary and me about what he knows. He even lets us ask as many questions as we want” Daisy said taking Ash’s hand. “Come on, let’s go ask Grandpa if we can talk with Mr. Austin when he comes back” Daisy said leading the boys inside.

Meanwhile, across Kanto in Fuschia City, bad decisions were being made with even worse intentions. “What do you mean Professor Oak is calling you to Pallet Town?!?!?” the Game Warden of the Safari Zone asked slamming his fist on the desk. “It’s exactly as I said! Professor Oak has asked all Researchers and Pokémon Trainers that can to return to Pallet Town as soon as possible. He also wants me to bring all my current research and my most recently published research” the sad looking Researcher said. “Damn him!” The Game Warden said kicking his desk. “Why now of all times?” the Game Warden asked. “I think Professor Oak didn’t like us turning over that Pinsir to the lab” the Researcher said. “That old coot needs to focus on his own research and his lab’s Pokémon Trainers. None of them have even made it to Koga’s gym or Fuschia City yet” the Game Warden said huffing angerly.
“So, I better go, I have to speed type hundreds of pages of fictitious research as soon as possible and then head to Pallet Town” the researcher said as he stood to exit. “Can’t you make up an excuse like Team Rocket is here poaching?” the Game Warden asked. “Are they here poaching?” the researcher asked. “Well not right now, but they could be. I could make a few calls and the Rangers might not be in the area when a few Team Rocket Grunts slip in. You can tell Oak you are helping fight Team Rocket, Team Rocket gets some of our “unwanted Pokémon”, and you keep getting paid. “Thank you Geoff, I better still prepare some fake research just in case” the Researcher said shaking Game Warden Geoff’s hand. “Hah, now Baoba and the board will have to keep me on as the Game Warden. They would never vote off someone who has Professor Oak’s lab backing, and is dealing with Team Rocket” the Game Warden said laughing cruelly to himself.

In Celadon City under the brand new game corner, a shadowy figure follows a man with purple hair down some hidden stairs. “Here we are boss! This is the hidden offices of Team Rocket” Petrel said showing off his work. “Excellent work Petrel! Get my design team here right away so they can furnish the offices. Have we started to get clients upstairs?” the shadowy figure asked. “Yes boss! We are already making a few thousand an hour, but once we get more daily clients we expect up to $1M ($1,000,000) per hour in revenue. Even locals have started to play daily” Petrel said with a proud sneer. “Most excellent indeed. Everything is going to plan, and as soon as Proton gets back to us about our latest interference we should be able to proceed unimpeded” the shadowy figure said while cracking his knuckles.

In a van heading South of Cerulean City, 10 Team Rocket Grunts wearing prison stripes sit shackled awaiting their fate. “Boss better bail us out or one of us is going to squeal. I’m lookin at you Kate” one of the Team Rocket Grunts said angerly. “Hey I’m not…” Kate started to say before the prison van started to swerve. “What’s going on?” One of the Grunts yelled. *BOOM* there was a huge explosion and part of the van was melting covered in Sludge from a Sludge Bomb. “This is Officer 2445, we are under attack! Calling all available units” the driver said over his radio. “Sorry bud, no one is coming to save you” a woman wearing Team Rocket gear with red hair said. “Hypno and Arbok, release the Grunts” the woman with red hair said. “Thank you Ariana!” said one of the Grunts. “Don’t thank me yet, you bunch of complete and utter failures!” Ariana said as she confiscated the Officer’s radio. “Hypno, after you help get them out, you are to wipe their memories” Ariana said pointing at the individual Grunts. “Please Ariana, I promise I won’t fail again!” Kate begged. “It’s too late, and we can’t have you talking to anyone” Ariana said. “Hurry up, we need to be out of here in 5 minutes” Ariana called out to her Pokémon.
10 minutes later Offier Jenny of Cerulean City finally arrived. “What happened here?” Officer Jenny called out. “Please don’t hurt me whoever you are” the Officer who was driving the van said. “Why would I hurt you Officer 2445? Are you okay?” Officer Jenny asked. “Stay away from me! Don’t come any closer!” the driver said looking terrified. Behind the van all 10 prisoners were laying on the ground with drool pooling on the corner of their lips. “Hello, are you all okay?” Officer Jenny asked shining her flashlight in their eyes. “Mphhh” one of the Rocket Grunts said. “I need to call headquarters and get the Detectives up here asap” Officer Jenny said running over to her motorcycle.
