Chapter 21: Using Electro Attacks on a Flying Type

Chapter 21: Using Electro Attacks on a Flying TypeLuna Pov

  <><><>

TODAY is the DAY I'll fight a DRAGON! Yay! I asked Recepti to hold today free, and she did without compints. Why am I bringing her with me when I'm about to fight a dragon, you ask? It's cause I want her to witness my glorious battle. It's somewhat like wanting your friend to watch you in a competition. Just that I'm fighting a dragon. As for whether she'll be in danger? Rex. I'll only bring her to the periphery and then enhance her sight with magic.

Well, I'm excited, if you couldn't tell yet. That's why I woke up at 7 AM today. That's why I only took ten minutes to get ready, and that's why I am already on my way to Recepti's house. Well, I was on my way. Now I'm there. I ring the doorbell. In this world, doorbells are still literally doorbells, bells with a cord that you can pull to make the bell ring.

"I'm coming," a voice sounds out from the inside. Soon after, Recepti opens the door for me, before making a surprised face. "You're already awake? You're early."

"I was just excited for today," I tell her.

"Let me get ready real quick," she tells me before letting me in. "Make yourself at home."

  "Okay."

Soon after, she is ready. Wearing a long bck dress with red stripes that beautifully complements her long bck hair, and minimal make-up, letting her natural beauty shine through, she smiles at me before saying, "I'm ready now." The first thing I do is obviously cast a spell on the dress to enhance its defensive properties. It would be a pity if it were ripped by the branches in the forest, given that she so exquisitely dressed up just for me.

"It looks good on you," I tell her. She seems delighted by the praise, smiling happily.

"Then, let's depart," I say, and she nods. She follows my lead in the direction of the city gate. Soon we reach it and leave.

"Say, Luna? What are we doing outside?" Recepti asks.

  "It's a secret!" I answer.

After some time, we reach the forest. I go in. Recepti looks at me with an uncertain expression and goes in as well. We walk for a while, while I rely on my navigation spell to find the way. Suddenly, Recepti seems to realise something.

  "You aren't pnning on..."

"On what?" I ask in the most innocent tone I can muster.

  "On fighting the dragon?!"

"Oh, but I am," I answer.

"Are you crazy?! We'll die! Even children know not to wake a sleeping dragon!"

  "Don't worry, you'll be safe."

  "You—!"

  "Like I said, don't worry."

"Haaaa! One can never find peace with you!" She knows she has no choice but to accept the outcome. After all, she is still weaker than I am.

Soon, we can see the creature. Its body and scales are a vibrant red. Currently, it is sleeping, so I'm unable to gauge its wingspan, yet its body is massive, at least the length of four or five trucks. I chuckle and float over. "Come, fight me!" I shout after enhancing Recepti's vision.

This seems to wake the dragon up as he does a yawn. "What are you doing so early in the morning?" it compins. "I wanna fight," I tell it.

"Oh, you are truly fearless, human. First, you wake this great one up, and then you look for a fight."

"Hehe, maybe." I scratch the back of my head. "Now, let's fight!"

"Okay." Slowly, it lifts its big head. Then it pulls its whole body up. Opening its mouth, it lets out a fiery breath. I just smirk and use a spell to create an invisible ptform in the air, also strengthening myself, before jumping away. I narrowly avoid the breath. I approach in a zigzag pattern. When I reach its cheek, I punch out.

The dragon smirks and, suddenly, a cw is descending toward me from above. I have no choice but to dodge, putting distance between us. The dragon seems to have anticipated this, and a fiery breath hits the spot I dodge to. Just barely, I'm able to react, dodging the breath again. Then I get closer again, this time targeting its chest. I punch out, but a barrier appears, barely blocking the strike. After that, I destroy the barrier with a second attack. My third attack finally hits, and the dragon staggers back a few steps with a clear indent on its chest.

"Not bad, human," the dragon compliments me.

  "You too," I answer.

"Hehehe, let me show you the meaning of Gninthgil, my name. Be warned, though. It will be dangerous," the dragon warns.

  "Bring it on!"

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning strikes down without warning. I'm unable to react in time and get stricken. Thankfully, my emergency barrier was on. It is a spell I designed myself that senses threats and creates a barrier based on the threat. It is always active and uses just as much Magic Power as is required to hold the barrier.

The dragon is surprised to see me unscathed before unleashing another bolt. Bolt after bolt hits my barrier, and I know it can't continue like this. I'll eventually run out of magic power. So I open a portal above the dragon's head and above my head. The next bolt strikes, and the dragon is surprised as it is suddenly electrocuted.

Humans have always been in awe of the power of lightning. Jupiter, Zeus, Thor, Indra, Perun, Enel, Raijin, Tloc. Each of these deities is associated with lightning and holds a high position. In many Chinese stories, the divine tribution is caused by lightning. That's why it was one of the things I wanted to try out when I reincarnated. Yet I could only do it after a lot of trial and error, and was never able to use it against anybody. But now, I can.

Suddenly, a big bolt of lightning strikes down. And with big, I mean big. Like, thirty meters in diameter, big. Actually, this isn't smart, since I am dispersing the force, but whatever. It looks cool, and that's all that counts. Also, I want the dragon to stay alive.

So, after using One Million Volt Thunderbolt with barely any amperes, the dragon faints. That's science! I could make the bolt have a trillion volts, as long as there are too few amperes, it won't even tickle.

Then I throw my Poki ball. One wiggle, two wiggles, three wiggles, click. Da, da, da, you caught a Charizard.
