“WAAAAH!!!!” Jouya screamed, completely terrified by what just came out of that little girl's mouth, falling to the ground as he moved backwards like in horror movies.
Jouya's face went pale, his bulging eyes and wide-open mouth frozen in terror. He resembled the iconic figure from the movie 'Scream.'
The girl began crying violently as she jumped straight up upon seeing that horrific scene in front of her accompanied by his scream, and started running away in an instant.
“E-eh?! N-no wait!” The substitute goddess shouted.
“Look what you did, you idiot!” The substitute goddess scolded Jouya, who was still laying on the ground, shocked as he was.
“Me?! Did you hear what came out of that thing’s mouth?!” Jouya grumbled with a shocked face.
“What are you talking about? Get up! We’re going to lose her!” The substitute goddess sounded stressed, seeing the girl getting further and further away with every second.
“Forget it! I'm not going after that thing!”
“That..thing?” The substitute goddess frowned in confusion with Jouya's behavior.
The substitute goddess kept switching his focus from little girl to Jouya checking, as the agony was taking the best out of him.
Suddenly the little girl slips and falls to the ground.
“Now's our chance! She fell.. Come on!” The substitute goddess said, pulling Jouya by his arm in an attempt to get him up.
“No! Let it wander around, maybe it’ll get lost eventually!” Jouya replied as he struggled to move away from the goddess, who now started pulling him from the legs.
“Wh-what’s gotten into you..?! Why are you insulting.. that poor little girl all of a sudden..?” The substitute goddess yelled at Jouya when suddenly...
Wait..Could it be? The substitute goddess suddenly let go of Jouya.
“Can you tell me what exactly did you hear coming out of that girl’s mouth?” The goddess asked Jouya in a hurry as he noticed that the girl had gotten back up.
“What do you mean?! You were there, you heard her!” Jouya replied confused.
“What exactly did she say?!” The substitute goddess demanded, completely losing his patience along with the little girl.
"She screamed! It was something like ‘AEAAEAA’ only the sound was otherworldly, I never heard something like this.” Jouya explained while raising his hands in the air, mimicking a monster.
“Ugh.. I thought so.. You have a language barrier it seems.” The substitute goddess said with disappointment, letting out a big sigh.
“HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT?!” Jouya yelled, getting up in an instant, patting the dust and grass off his clothes.
“Quick! She's getting away!” The substitute goddess shouted completely distracted, and with that, both of them sprinted towards her, putting all of their power in that sprint.
After running for a moment, they finally started getting closer to her, but having used all of their strength in that sprint, their pace is now starting to get weaker as the seconds pass.
They’re both covered in sweat, panting, and their eyes bulged in from dehydration and exhaustion, making their faces look completely deformed, like two zombies.
“Huff..huff.. why is she so fast..?!” Jouya wheezed out of breath.
The little girl, hearing their heavy footsteps, made the mistake of glancing back, facing this agonizing and horrific view of those two chasing her, leaving her completely traumatized, as she screamed out loud while crying!
“H-hey, wait! We don't want to hurt you!” The substitute goddess yelled, but his face said otherwise as his angelic face has now turned into that of a corpse's.
To everyone's eyes, it would seem as if two freaks were chasing that poor little girl.
She was approaching a steep slope, leaving her with the options of going inside the scary, dark forest to her right or going through a rough, rocky road to her left.
It was a really hard choice that left her still for quite some time, something that favored the boys as they reduced the distance between them dramatically.
They stopped for a second to catch their breath, both of them heavily panting, leaning on their knees, completely exhausted. Tons of sweat ran down their faces, creating small paddles on the dry, rocky soil below them.
In front of them there was a huge, steep mountain, looking really dangerous and prone to landslides. You could see it fade within the clouds due to its height.
To their right there was a steep, rocky uphill as if it were carved on the mountain, perhaps leading to its top, and finally to their left there was a really ominous dark forest, letting no light pass through its dense trees, it appeared as if it were swallowed by shadows.

As she was about to make a move towards the forest, a big wolf with rich dark fur came out from the bushes in front of her, blocking her path.
A few dark clouds started covering the sun, creating a really heavy and dark atmosphere, as the wolf started approaching the little girl slowly.
The girl made small steps, trembling in fear as she stepped back, ending up falling to the ground helpless.
The wolf took a quick gaze at them, letting out a big roar that shook the air around them as if it were claiming the little girl as his lunch.
Both Jouya and the substitute goddess were frozen under the wolf’s intimidating glare, their bodies stiff with fear and their legs trembling.
“‘W-We must do something!’ Jouya muttered in a low voice, only a tiny part of his lips moving while his whole body and face remained frozen.
‘A-And what exactly can we do against a giant wolf like him? We won’t even leave him a scratch!’ the goddess replied, using the exact same tone and stiffness as Jouya.”
Jouya’s mind raced, desperately searching for an idea.
The substitute goddess is right, we can't fight that thing.. I need to find a way to lure that wolf away and fast! Jouya thought, being quite troubled, as he desperately tried to come up with an idea.
There was an eerie silence as the wolf drew closer to the girl, leaving everyone in agony and dread until...
“HEY YOU!! OII!” Jouya screamed with all his strength while waving his hands, trying to catch the wolf's attention.
The wolf responded to Jouya's call, shifting his attention to him.
Great, it worked! Jouya smiled.
“Look! I got fresh meat for you! I bet it tastes better compared to that little snot’s over there, don't you think?” Jouya shouted, rapidly switching poses, showing parts of his body to the wolf, like a butcher proudly advertising his high-quality meat.
“Er.. What are you doing exactly..?" The goddess asked, confused and embarrassed.
"Shhh.. Got anything better?" Jouya whispered as he continued the show.
Seeing him drenched in sweat, panting, and looking like a complete mess, the wolf lost interest and focused back on the little girl.
“Did that wolf reject me just now?!” Jouya said, appearing offended and shocked by how the wolf eyed him with a look of despise before switching his focus.
“Seems so.. I mean, look at you.” The substitute goddess replied to him with a sad and judging look on his face.
“Like you're any better!” Jouya yelled as he got really angry.
“I’ll show you, you little runt..” He murmured, grabbing a bunch of rocks from the ground as he then started throwing them at the wolf.
- The first one misses.
- Second on misses as well, falling only a few centimeters away from the wolf.
- The third one finally hits the target on his body.
The wolf seemed unbothered by Jouya's presence, completely ignoring him as it moves within a dangerously close distance to the girl.
That little bastard keeps ignoring me! Let's see you ignore that! Jouya thought as he kept throwing rocks at the wolf, only this time at an increased rate.
Jouya’s anger had also increased his precision, making every rock he threw hit.
Jouya was literally throwing everything he could find on the ground at the wolf, maniacally.
The substitute goddess stood awkwardly, unsure how to respond.
It was after the fifth headshot that the wolf, completely lost it, letting out a deep, grumbling roar of annoyance, finally shifting its focus back to Jouya.. this time with eyes that spelled death.
Eek!.. I need to remain calm!” Jouya thought as he stopped throwing rocks, trying to take a deep breath, but suddenly the wolf started sprinting towards the boys, his eyes reflecting only Jouya.
“RUN!!” The substitute goddess screamed as they both started running in the opposite direction from where the girl was, while panicking.
The two boys were approaching a giant rock located back in the grassy field not too far from where the little girl was.
“Huff.. You and your great ideas!” The substitute goddess faintly shouted while looking at Jouya with anger.
“Hey! At least I did something, unlike someone!” Jouya yelled at the goddess while he threw the remaining rocks he had stored using his shirt as a bag, back at the wolf.
“WILL YOU STOP THROWING ROCKS AT HIM?!” The goddess yelled.
“These were the last ones, relax!” Jouya shouted.
"HOW CAN I RELAX WHEN A GIANT WOLF IS CHASING US?!!" The substitute goddess screamed, losing his mind from exhaustion and fear.
After the goddess’s complaint, Jouya glanced behind to check how close the wolf was.
The substitute goddess had the same idea, looking back as well, which caused both of them to stumble over each other and fall.
“Ouch you idiot!” Jouya said.
“You were the one who crashed on me, idiot!” The goddess mumbled, rubbing the back of his head.
The wolf slowed down his pace and started walking slowly towards the boys, having ensured that his prey wouldn't escape.
“What’s with this wolf.. He surely likes to take his time.." The substitute goddess murmured, looking at the wolf, as he switched his focus to Jouya, who was about to grab something from the ground.
“Doooon’t.." the goddess said slowly, his tone low and irritated.
Jouya got up, ignoring the goddess’s warning, while staring at the wolf right in the eyes.
He pretends to throw something at the wolf, but his hand is actually empty.
The wolf flinched, thinking it was another rock, closing his eyes while staying still.
"Haha! Gotcha, you stupid dog!" Jouya took off at full speed, heading for the large rock behind him.
The wolf’s eyes popped open in disbelief as he realized it had just been faked out. He stood still for a while out of embarrassment, as it couldn’t believe it had just fallen for such a cheap trick.
The wolf, now truly enraged, let out a deafening roar that echoed across the valley.
Damn, he really pissed off that wolf this time.. The substitute goddess thought as he tried to move out of the way.
The wolf sprinted forward with an incredible burst of speed and leapt at Jouya, finally pinning him to the ground with his strong front legs.
For a moment, the wolf seemed to be trying to form words, its jaws moving strangely as if it were attempting to cuss Jouya out, but... no words came out, just an eerie growling noise that resembled human speech.
It was as if the wolf was so furious, it was on the verge of speaking, something wolves were definitely not supposed to do.
Jouya stared up at the creature in horror.
D-did that wolf just try to talk?!
And just as the wolf was about to deliver the finishing blow on Jouya, suddenly his eyes bulged out as he let out a big cry.
It was the substitute goddess who had ridden the wolf's back while he was distracted, pulling his fur with all of his strength, causing him extreme pain.
“Let him go! You stupid dog!” The goddess shouted as he pulled the fur beneath his ears even harder.
The wolf started panicking as tears launched in the air coming from his eyes, trying to shake the goddess off by doing sudden maneuvers, but with no success as his grip was exceptional.
Jouya took the chance and got back up, as he tried to come up with a plan in order to help the goddess.
He can't hold on like this forever! I need to think of something fast! Come on, think! If only I had a weapon.. Jouya thought, scanning the area desperately.
Upon watching the boys trying to help her, the little girl bravely approaches Jouya, holding something in her hands. Her face is still trembling with fear.
"Wha.. what is it?" Jouya asked gently.
The girl held out her small hands, slowly opening her palms, revealing her treasure...
Rocks.
