Chapter 64

  Chapter 64

The four vessels launched unending volleys of blue and gold orbs as they assaulted each other over the purple skies of Adara II.

Thor's systems beeped endlessly as more and more of his ship succumbed to the ensuing onslaught. Finally, after intense fighting, Thor's shields collapsed leaving his ship vulnerable to enemy attack.

Boom. Boom. Boom. Crash. Direct Hit.

The Biliskinir, once the Asgard's most powerful ship, had been defeated.

Smiles of hubris and insipid laughter could be heard on the Goa'uld vessels. Osiris amongst all of them seemed to hiss the most.

"Get word back to Anubis,"said the proud Goa'uld. "Tell him that the Asgard have been —"

  Osiris stopped mid sentence.

On her view screen appeared an armada of ships.

"My Lord, ships are dropping out of hyperspace — Many!"

Appearing in formation beside the Biliskinir were a fleet of Asgard science vessels donning the name Samantha Carter. Below them, a fleet of Lantean warships, Aurora Class, ready and eager to join the fight. Beside the Asgard science vessels emerged a fleet of Lantean cruisers and Sebrus class ships protecting the armada's flank. Finally above the fleet were none other than the next generation Lantean warships; the Borealis class, its guns and squadrons of Eurondan fighters ready to engage.

  "Reva, raise shields,"ordered Amos.

"Yes my love,"she replied, never missing a beat.

Amos rose from his command chair and stood looking outside of his ship's glass window, his steady gaze peering at the enemy fleet.

"Amos, Thor's shields are gone, and I'm reading severe damage on multiple decks,"said Sha're as she monitored the ship's sensors.

"Looks like we got here just in the knick of time, any later and Thor would have been killed,"said Egeria.

"Are you picking up any lifesigns? if SG-1 is down there we need to know about it."

"I'm picking up one life sign; It's Asgard. The rest of the world is uninhabited," said Egeria, pouring over the Samantha's sensors.

"Good, at least we don't have SG-1 to worry about, right now. That would be — awkward; Amos's eyes glanced over at Sha're then back at the fleet in front of him."

"Amos, the HaTaks are powering weapons," informed Reva.

"This bitch is not,"said Amos. "Reva, open a channel."

On the lead HaTak vessel, Osiris was preparing to fire her cannons when a ghostly image appeared on the bridge of her ship.

"Goa'uld Vessel. My name is Amos Fyree, leader of the Lantean Commonwealth, and Captain of this ship. The Asgard are members of the Commonwealth. An Attack on one is an attack on all, leave now or be destroyed."

Standing before him was none other than that beautiful woman, the Goa'uld System Lord Osiris. Staring at the image before him, Amos quickly realized that Osiris wasn't just some ordinary Goa'uld. No, standing before him was none other than his old professor at the University of Chicago, Dr. Sarah Gardner.

"Professor Gardner?" whispered Amos caught off guard by her presence. "Professor Gardner is that you," said Amos walking closer to her position in his holographic state.

  "I – don't know — who you're talking about,"said Osiris.

Professor Gardner looked different, she obviously didn't wear ancient Egyptian cosplay in her classes at Chicago, and to be frankly honest, never appeared that hot. This Sarah Gardner was over a decade younger, and a whole lot hotter, than the Professor who introduced him to the Stargate program in the first place. Still, there was no doubt in his mind, this was Professor Gardner, the woman who introduced him to the Stargate Program.

"Ampu!" yelled Egeria. "That is not your professor, she has been taken over by the Goa'uld Osiris. Snap out of it."

Amos snapped back to attention. Egeria was right, the person before him was no longer his old teacher but a parasite taking her body as an unwilling host.

Before Amos could speak, hyperspace windows opened up.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

  "It's an entire Goa'uld fleet,"blurted Michael Jackson.

While Amos hesitated, Osiris had called for the aid of other Goa'uld vessels. Soon, the alien world of Adara II was littered with Goa'uld ships of varying designs.

"I'm picking up Ha'Taks, Al Quesh, Gliders; a whole lot of them. I'm counting thirty three ships in total,"shouted Reva.

Osiris began to laugh as the Goa'uld fleet arrived in orbit.

"I'm sorry Mr. Fyree you were saying?" said the snarky Osiris. "It's so nice seeing such bravado in today's youth. I'm sure your Professor would feel the same way if she were here,"said Osiris as she chucked at the arrival of the Goa'uld fleet.

Anger grew inside of Amos like fyre. Then the brave Captain of the Samantha looked at the Goa'uld System Lord and said, "Professor Gardner, If you are in there, I promise that I will liberate you and set you free."

Amos broke the feed and opened a channel to the Commonwealth fleet. "All ships, raise shields. Charge weapons. Target all of the ships with drones and heavy weaponry, do not, I repeat do not, destroy the lead ship. That's an order."

All over the Commonwealth fleet Ayes could be heard affirming Amos's fiery commands.

  "All ships, open fire!"

In an instant, shots rang out between the Goa'uld and Commonwealth fleet. Lantean drones poured out of Lantean Warships like water, decimating the Ha'Tak vessels on the outer edges of the Goa'uld armada.

"We're losing ships, My lord," said a frightened Jaffa. "They're using a new type of weapon, it's cutting through our shields like they're not even there!"

"Keep firing, Jaffa! Kree," ordered Osiris.

Samantha class ships rained hellfire on the Goa'uld Ha'Taks using their new crimson colored cannons, yet many of the ships shields still buckled during the vicious onslaught.

"Man, look at those shields,"said Reva."Even my new ion cannons are having trouble bringing them down."

The Samantha class vessels continued to pound on the enemy ships with their crimson cannons and finally began taking out several Ha'Tak vessels.

"Phew, it's working, just a little more and…"

  Boom!

"Another Ha'Tak vessel has been destroyed," said Reva, pride shining on her face.

Meanwhile on another side of the battle, Freyr was leading several Samantha Class vessels on the Skidbladnir.

"Whoopi, transfer power from non essential systems to our ion cannons, let's see if we can punch through those Goa'uld vessels," said Freyr.

The Skidbladnir hammered a relentless barrage on an incoming Ha'Tak.

  "Keep firing Whoopi!" screamed Freyr.

"I'm firing but their damn shields won't budge. Shall I switch to Lantean beams?" she asked.

Before Freyr could respond, Warrick, on board the Sebrus, intervened in the fight.

"Hello, this is Warrick, we are here to assist."

"Excellent timing Warrick, any luck getting through their shields?" wondered Freyr as he continued his assault.

Warrick flipped the switch to his subspace communicator and opened a channel,"Not yet, listen, I'm going to try something that I think will fry their systems. It's called a blast transmission. When I tell you too, start your engines and get out of the way. Anything caught in its radius will be affected by the blast."

Warrick and his elven crew prepared the blast transmission.

"Get out the Way!" shouted Warrick over subspace.

Freyr activated the sublight engines of the Skidbladnir and hurried to safety.

  "Now, Fire blast transmission."

Then, with a wish and a prayer, they fired. The resulting wave was devastating; much more than Warrick and his crew could have anticipated.

"It worked!"screamed Warrick. An elf who looked like Carrie Fisher sat down at the copilot's chair and quickly accessed the ship's sensors. "Instead of just incapacitating one Ha'Tak, Captain Warrick, we incapacitated seven of them! It must be the ZPM boosting the ship's power!" said Carrie Fisher.

On one of the enemy ships, Jaffa were scurrying about trying to make sense of what happened to their ship.

"Sublight, communications, weapons and shields are down," said a doomed Jaffa.

"Do everything you can to get shields back online,"said the Jaffa Captain.

Out of nowhere, a small Asgard science vessel rose up from beneath the vessel. Their crew staring directly at the Goa'uld bridge.

"S-S-Sir, the enemy ship is looking right at us,"said another doomed Jaffa.

  Boom.

In an instant, Commander Freyr had turned the HaTak vessel to dust.

As Freyr and the Samantha Class vessels did battle with the unshielded Ha'Taks, Warrick's fleet of Sebrus class ships set their aim on the Al'Quesh.

"Hmm, let's see what these new Lantean beams can do."

The Sebrus positioned itself in the fray between several Al'Quesh doing bombing runs on the Lantean Warships and fired Lantean beams at the encroaching ships. As the Sebrus fired its main gun that emerald light that destroyed the Ha'Tak over Hebridan skewered the Al'Quesh as well as three Ha'Tak vessels directly behind them.

"I got em, and then some!"shouted Warrick as the Lantean beams cut through the enemy fleet like butter.

The battle raged on with three Ha'Taks attempting to take on just one of the Borealis class ships. Still their shields held with each second generation Lantean Warship barely taking any damage at all. Then swarms of drones launched from the Borealis class ship dissecting the enemy Ha'Taks as they hovered above. Another four Ha'Taks emerged from the other side of the theatre and began attacking yet another Borealis class vessel. From every angle the Ha'Tak vessels pounded the next generation Lantean warship, the first carrier of its class, leaving molten heaps of plasma in their wake. The attack was vicious, but their shields held. Then suddenly, from every angle, drones met their attackers head on; the almost living weapons skewering and devouring the enemy fleet like a trail of insects devouring the newly dead.

Then the remaining Goa'uld ships started to become desperate. They launched fighters to try and swarm many of the Commonwealth vessels, some even performing Kamakazi runs, knowing their god was on the cusp of defeat. The Borealis class vessels launched aerofighters in response. The resulting dance between Goa'uld Death Gliders and Eurondan fighters saw the aerofighters as victorious. The biggest difference; Goa'uld Death Gliders had no shields, and every time they made a hit on an Eurondan fighter, they became open to attacks.

Soon the armada of thirty three ships became twenty. Soon twenty became ten, and soon ten became one.

"Alright let's focus our ion cannons on the lead ship. As soon as its shields fail I want to beam out Dr. Gardner,"ordered Amos to his crew.

The Samantha began launching rapid fire attacks on Osiris's vessel; firing red bolts of ions at the powerful Goa'uld vessel.

"I'm only reading a slight drop in shield strength, this ship is more powerful than the others,"said Reva, as sparks flew on the bridge of the Samantha.

"We're taking a lot of damage,"said Egeria, "Whatever she used on Thor, she's using on us too."

Then Amos shouted, "Reva, we have no choice. We have to use our Lantean beams. As soon as her shields collapse, use Godspeed and pull her out immediately."

As soon as Amos stopped speaking, Reva fired Samantha's forward Lantean beam emitter right in the center of Osiris's vessel.

  "Shields are fluctuating,"said Michael Jackson.

  "Good," responded Amos.

Finally, the beam cut through. Impaling the formidable HaTak vessel right in its center.

As the interior of Osiris's mighty Ha'Tak began to explode the area covering the bridge tore open exposing the inside of the ship to outer space.

  "Noooo!"screamed Osiris.

"Noooo!" yelled the once proud System Lord.

As her body began to float into the void of space, she disappeared, then reappeared; finding herself in a white room surrounded by women also clothed in white attire.

"Hello,"said one of the women in white. "My name is Freya. Welcome to the Samantha Carter."

Freya then printed a lantean blaster, aimed it at Osiris, and shot the ancient Egyptian god right in the chest.
